Technical Weeks

RASAYANIKA: The Chemical Week

"The language which was assumed to be gibberish in Latin and German became the most powerful tool of the world in the hands of Liebig." From the tiniest sub-atomic particle to the ever-expanding universe, this astronomy of the molecular world is no less than a magic wand that drives life on this planet. It is one of the reasons that Chemistry, as a subject, attracts us like two chemical compounds forming a strong bond together. And the stronger the bond, the harder it is to break!

PETROLEUM WEEK

"Back in 1859, the human race discovered a treasure chest in the basement; and since then we have been living it up, just like any other person in our place would have." The rich history of the hydrocarbons is buried deep within the Earth's crust and it takes millions of years and a series of natural processes for these naturally occurring substances to be extracted. Being the only one among the triad of geological siblings of hydrocarbons that has dominated the global energy economy for centuries, our histories and destinies are hopelessly intertwined with the Black Gold.

CYBER WEEK

"Programming isn't about what you know; it's about what you can figure out." Over the years, Silicon Valley gained the status of becoming more than just a location; it emerged out to be a mindset of the 21st century. Currently, it stands undefeated as the most prominent name for the tech entrepreneurs and the start-up visionaries. Giving you a close glimpse of the dominating tech giant, this invigorating tech-hub is designed to reboot your IT senses and challenge your processor to the utmost limit.

LITERARY WEEK

"Strange, isn't it? To love a book. When the words on the pages become so precious that they feel like part of your own history because they are." Literature is one of the most beautiful and soothing studies to be ever performed by humans. It incorporates and inculcates feelings of happiness, bliss, contentment, satisfaction and jubilation to the hearts of both, the authors and the readers. This magnificent exhibition is blended with creativity, imagination and perspectives; sprinkled with the spirit of extremely proficient vocabulary and writing skills, for those who believe these books are an escape that brings you home.

CSR Activities

"All of us are unique, but together our differences create a harmony singing a well-orchestrated melody, an intangible bond that lives on forever."

We, at UPES FIPI, envision a world where people know not just what it is to be human but also what it is to be humane. The world has changed dynamically! The science is clearer than ever before, awareness is at an all-time high, commitments are more ambitious and innovations are more impactful. Keeping this in mind, we have strived to align the goals of each of our CSR activities with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) via our partnerships and commitments. Let's live to better the lives of others.

1

INDEPENDENCE DAY SOCIAL DRIVE

“May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our country.” – Sardar Bhagat Singh

In the truest sense, independence cannot be bestowed; it must be won. UPES FIPI Student Chapter celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with children in a primary school of Bidholi. We feel immense gratitude towards the valiant martyrs. The flag hoisting ceremony was led by the head of the village and everyone had a sense of pride and patriotism in their eyes as the Tiranga waved in the wind.

2

CLEANLINESS SOCIAL DRIVE

“Cleanliness is not just a matter of instinct; it is a matter of education, and like most great things, you must cultivate a taste for it.”

Cleanliness is indeed next to godliness. We, at UPES FIPI Student Chapter, believe that a city must be made beautiful on the parameters of good health and cleanliness. Supervised by chapter officials, five teams of students conducted a cleanliness drive on the path which connects the campus from Dehradun city. The activity not only made the masses responsible for the environment but also planted a motivation for teamwork in the participants.

3

SPORTS SOCIAL DRIVE

“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.”- John F Kennedy

Fitness is the first requisite of happiness. UPES FIPI Student Chapter made an effort to raise the spirit of sports for children of primary school in Bidholi. The chapter organized various sports events for the children. Their enthusiasm and active participation filled our hearts with joy. The winners were given their well-deserved prizes and the silver lining was applause from the teachers and their guardians.

4

CHESHIRE HOMES

“There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more.”

Disability is a matter of perception. UPES FIPI Student Chapter paid a visit to Cheshire Homes, Dehradun. The students got the opportunity to interact and spend some wonderful time with these people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Chapter tried to do their part and distributed bed-sheets to the people. Seeing the smiles on those charming faces brought about a sense of bliss in our hearts.

5

SAHYOG

“The goal of education is the advancement of knowledge and dissemination of truth.”

An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. UPES FIPI Student Chapter, in collaboration with ICFDR, organized Easy Classes for a Government School in Dunga. The goal was to help the students learn new things and extra-curricular activities within the school premises. The Chapter will continue to do their part and try to reach masses, all the way sharing knowledge.

6

KOSHISH 2.0

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.”

The greatest good is what we do for one another. UPES FIPI Student Chapter, in the endeavour of making a difference, organized ‘Koshish 2.0’. This donation drive embraced the government schools of Bidholi and Upper Kandoli. The students displayed their enthusiasm by donating various items like clothes, accessories, footwear, stationery, book and notebooks.
